Palliative Care

Palliative care is an important part of cancer survivorship care and focuses on improving quality of life for individuals living with cancer at any stage of the disease. Unlike hospice or end-of-life care, palliative care is not limited to patients who are nearing death and can be provided at the time of diagnosis alongside curative or life-prolonging treatments. It helps manage symptoms such as pain, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, depression, and emotional distress while also supporting patients and families through the challenges of cancer care. Patients and caregivers typically look for supportive services that address the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and caregivers throughout the cancer journey. Through symptom management, care coordination, and emotional support, palliative care helps individuals maintain comfort, function, and dignity during treatment, recovery, and long-term survivorship.
