Cancer Survivorship

The term Cancer Survivorship has come to have various meanings over the years. In the past, a cancer survivor has been used to refer to anyone who has ever been diagnosed with cancer, no matter their phase of life.

More recently, many groups have come up with terms to refer more specifically to distinct phases of life after a diagnosis. The North Dakota Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan (link here to page 26 of control plan) discusses Quality of Life as the term encompassing all aspects of the cancer journey including the following phases:

· Treatment

· Survivorship

· Palliative Care

· End-of-life Care

The ND Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan lays out specific goals and strategies in each of these areas.
