In North Dakota, prostate cancer is the number one most diagnosed cancer and second leading cause of cancer deaths in men. The American Cancer Society estimates about one in six men in the U.S. will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. While prostate cancer is relatively common, the good news is that about 90% of all prostate cancers are detected when the cancer is confined to the prostate or the region around it, and treatment success rates are high compared with many other types of cancer. The five-year survival rate in the United States for men diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer is greater than 99%.
We encourage you to join the fight against cancer and use the following materials in your organization and community to increase awareness and the importance of prevention of this disease. Working together we CAN reduce the incidence and impact of prostate cancer in North Dakota!
