WELCOME NEW COMP CANCER STAFF MEMBER | Mikaila McLaughlin

There will be some noticeable changes in the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (Comp Cancer) functions and staffing. We thought it would be a good time to start acclimating our Coalition membership to some of these changes.

This week, we are excited to introduce to you, our new Coalition Coordinator, Mikaila McLaughlin. Mikaila was hired to fill a new position required by CDC in the most recent funding cycle. She began working for the ND Department of Health & Human Services on November 8, 2022.

Mikaila will be focusing on coordinating activities and efforts between Comp Cancer, the Coalition, and other new and “non-traditional” partners and stakeholders. This funding cycle, CDC has heavily tasked the program with assisting in the implementation of evidence-based interventions (EBIs) and policy, systems, and environmental change strategies (PSE). Mikaila will be reaching out to Coalition members to identify where collaboration can occur to achieve these tasks.

Mikaila has been in both the business and health care fields. Her most recent position was with Job Service, but she has also worked at the State Laboratory, health care facilities, and in hotel management. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Health Sciences and an Associate of Science in Business Administration from American Public University. She is currently enrolled in a dual Master’s degree program for Business Administration and Public Health, also through American Public University.

Please give Mikaila a warm greeting when she contacts you in the coming months! Welcome, Mikaila! We’re so glad to have you in our Coalition family! You can contact Mikalia via email at mvmcLaughlin@nd.gov.
