In North Dakota lung cancer is the number one most diagnosed cancer among men and women combined and the number one cause of cancer deaths. In the United States, every 2.3 minutes someone is diagnosed with lung cancer. Of all new lung cancer diagnoses, 60-65% are among people who have never smoked or are former smokers. Only 21% of all people diagnosed with lung cancer will survive 5 years or more, but if it is caught before it spreads, the chance for 5-year survival improves dramatically.
We encourage you to join the fight against cancer and use the following materials in your organization and community to increase awareness and the importance of prevention of this disease. Working together we CAN reduce the incidence and impact of lung cancer in North Dakota!
