Because the fight against cancer is so large, the North Dakota Cancer Coalition formed workgroups an committees in a means to focus our efforts. All of the workgroups/committees play essential roles in the Coalition, however they have different areas of focus.
The NDCC is made up of four implementation workgroups: Prevention, Screening/Early Detection, Treatment and Survivorship. Workgroup priorities are linked to objectives in the 2011-2016 North Dakota Cancer Control Plan. The timeline for implementation of these activities varies and some of the activities may be ongoing.
The NDCC also has standing committees to address various responsibilities within the Coalition. Some of the standing committees meet regularly while others meet for a time-limited duration or to work on a special project.
The desired goal of the workgroups and committees is to address the state's highest areas of cancer burden using the cancer plan as a guide.
